　　Post-nuclear-war dramas centering on a small group of survivors now constitute an entire genre in science-fiction films. All of them, in some way or another, can be traced back to this seminal film from 1951 in which five people deal with the possibility they are the only human beings left alive on the planet.　　While most of the later movies exploited this possibility for B-movie thrills, "Five" adopts a quiet, contemplative tone which some may find dull but which thoughtful viewers are more likely to find, for want of a better word, haunting. There is something about this movie which gets under the skin and which lurks in the corners of the mind long after it's over.

　　Edith Hardy uses charity funds for Wall Street investments in hopes of buying some new gowns. She loses all the money and borrows from wealthy oriental Tori. When her husband gives her the amount she borrowed, Tori won't take it back, branding her shoulder with a Japanese sign of his ownership. She shoots him. Her husband takes the blame. In court Edith reveals all to an angry mob. When she finds the money has been lost, she desperately turns to a Japanese ivory trader with whom she has been thoughtlessly flirting and persuades him to replace the money in exchange for an assignation. When her husband's long-awaited business deal finally materializes, she desperately tries to withdraw from their agreement by replacing the money. Angered and disappointed with her resistance to his advances, he uses a branding device to mark her shoulder as his property. Feeling violated, Edith shoots him in the shoulder and leaves. 　　本片用迷幻的影像和摇滚乐讲述了一个非典型乐队主唱的成长史。儿时，平克（鲍勃•吉尔道夫 Bob Geldof  饰）的父亲在二战中身亡，母亲与家庭医生关系暧昧，这让他幼小心灵备受创伤。在学校，他对呆板的填鸭教育深恶痛绝，时刻准备着绝地反击。成年后，他在泡吧时结识了风骚的舞女，并与之发生了关系。然而，性欲的满足感并没有维持太久，他就厌倦了这种不靠谱的感情，特别是他对于女人的怀疑和嫉妒达到了无以复加的地步，因此当对方再度示好投怀送抱的时候，他便歇斯底里地爆发了，仿佛要把全世界都砸碎了才算安心。在此期间，他还表达了强烈的反战情绪和愤世嫉俗的观念，在物质丰富的生活中，他的精神生活极度匮乏，在工业化大行其道的环境里，他还固守着梦想的断壁残垣……

　　1940年，迪士尼公司制作了第三部长片动画《幻想曲》，为动画史贡献了一部迄今仍难以企及的经典名作。本片由8部音乐短片组成，最早诞生的《魔法师的学徒》讲述了在魔法师严西（Yensid，迪士尼Disney倒写）手下学徒的米老鼠偷戴师傅的帽子，利用魔法指挥扫帚挑水并惹下大祸的 有趣故事。该片原打算收入“糊涂交响曲（Silly Symphonies）”系列，但因严重超支，入不敷出，故迪士尼决定另外结合几支经典名曲拍成一部音乐短片合集，一并发行。只是因过于艺术化以及二战等方面的原因，《幻想曲》并未取得预期的收益。除杜卡的《魔法师的学徒》外，本片收录曲目还有巴赫《D小调托卡塔与赋格》、柴科夫斯基《胡桃夹子》、斯特拉文斯基《春之祭》、贝多芬《田园交响曲》、蓬基耶利《时间舞曲》、穆索尔斯基《荒山之夜》和舒伯特的《万福玛丽亚》。　　本片获第14届奥斯卡特别成就（音 乐和录音技术）2项金像奖。
